“Perfect.”
Julian stared at me.
“You recorded us?”
“Yes.”
“You had no right.”
That almost made me laugh.
Sarah did it for me.
“In a one-party consent jurisdiction?”
She slipped the phone into the second evidence bag.
“She absolutely did.”
Eleanor looked toward the nurse.
“You cannot allow this.”
The nurse’s expression was cold.
“I already called hospital security.”
Julian looked at me.
“You’re really doing this?”
I stared back at him.
He sounded betrayed.
That was almost impressive.
“You brought your mistress into my hospital room after I gave birth.”
I kept my voice steady.
“You let your mother hit me.”
“You took my daughter away from me because I refused to sign over my company.”
“And you’re asking if I’m really doing this?”
Victoria stepped backward.
“I’m leaving.”
Sarah nodded.
“You’re free to leave.”
Victoria reached the door.
“But I strongly recommend you retain counsel.”
She stopped.
Then she ran.
Julian watched her go.
That told me something too.
His eyes followed his mistress.
Not his wife.
Not his newborn daughter.
His mistress.
Sarah looked at him.
“Mr. Vance.”
He turned.
“You are suspended from Vance Development effective immediately.”
His face changed.
“You can’t suspend me.”
Sarah raised an eyebrow.
“I just did.”
“You don’t run the company.”
“No.”
She pointed toward me.
“She does.”
Julian laughed bitterly.
