After seeing the device, I realized there was a better question than:
**“Why does my girlfriend have this?”**
The better question is:
**“What is it designed to do?”**
Once you remove the embarrassment, the answer becomes much more straightforward.

Looking back, I probably should have just asked.

She might have laughed.

There’s a lesson in that.
When you discover an unfamiliar personal item belonging to someone you trust, jumping to conclusions usually isn’t helpful.
A simple, respectful question is often the best solution.
## What the Image Can Tell Us — and What It Can’t
Based on the design shown in the photograph, the device is most consistent with a **pelvic-floor/inner-thigh resistance trainer**.
But an image alone cannot establish the exact manufacturer, model, intended exercise routine, or whether the person who owns it uses it for one particular purpose.
Similar-looking products can have different designs and functions.
So the safest identification is at the category level.

That is enough to solve the mystery without pretending to know details that the photograph doesn’t reveal.
## The Mystery Wasn’t Nearly as Strange as I Thought
When I first saw the device, I imagined all sorts of possibilities.
Now I realize that my imagination was doing most of the work.
