That is the question viewers naturally want answered.
What happened to this child?
Where did life take him?
What kind of career did he eventually have?
Did he become famous?
Did he remain private?
Did he achieve the dreams he had as a child?
Did his personality change dramatically?
Did he keep photographs from his childhood?
We cannot answer those questions simply by looking at this image.
And that is important.
A compelling headline can encourage curiosity, but curiosity should not be confused with certainty.
The safest way to enjoy a mystery photograph is to treat it as a conversation starter rather than as definitive evidence of someone’s identity.

Why We Remember Faces
The human brain is exceptionally interested in faces.
We use facial information to recognize friends, relatives, colleagues, and strangers.
